LKM Art Studio is original art by Lauren Middleton.
My work focuses on color, pattern, and abstracted organic forms from nature. Flowers, foliage, clouds, waves, stars, and other celestial orbs all frequently appear in my pieces, sometimes juxtaposed with shapes reminiscent of the digital world. I primarily offer small-format original works, customizable prints, and other functional art objects such as hand-painted greeting cards.
I use acrylic, watercolor, and digital manipulations to create my images. I typically start with a series of original pieces on panel or paper, all variations of one image. Then I use the computer to turn elements of those works into new digital designs and prints. These digital re-imaginings often inspire me to make new works in watercolor and acrylic, and the process continues.
My relationship to nature drives my work. I was raised to notice and value the way the natural world influences how we feel. For many years I’ve turned to natural scenes as a mirror to process experiences. When these experiences are negative, the natural world can help soothe us. When the experiences are joyous, we long to capture them in an image we can hold onto, like an endless summer. I created LKM Art Studio from a desire to integrate this relationship with nature into our living spaces and daily lives through original art objects.
